Pre & Post Care Treatments

  1. Avoid the sun for 48 hours. The use of any AHAs, BHAs, or Retinoids is prohibited for 5 days post treatment.
  2. Avoid derma fillers at least 1 week post treatment or 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  3. The use of Swissclinical SOS-911 kit for seven days after each treatment is mandatory to avoid any bacteria or epidermal inflammation.
  4. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser for at least 48 hours after treatment.
  5. Do not take any inflammatory medicines for at least 2 weeks post treatment.
  6. Makeup may be used when the skin is completely healed (wait 12 hours post procedure). Using make-up on broken skin poses a certain risk of hyper pigmentation as a result of infiltration of makeup into the open tissue, as well as the risk of potential bacterial infection and inflammation in the treatment area.
  7. Swelling and redness is normal and will subside within 48-72 hours.
  8. You may experience flaking and peeling of the skin surface for 2-3 days, using the Swissclinical SOS-911 kit will help to keep skin hydrated.
  9. Consecutive treatments depends on your condition diagnosed by your healthcare provider. The interval between treatments is approximately 2-4 weeks.

Benefits of PRP skin rejuvenation using the Regen® System:

Along with the benefit of using your own blood, thereby minimizing allergic reactions, there is the added benefit of utilizing your own growth factors for your benefit. Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) has been shown to have overall rejuvenating effects on the skin as in improving skin texture, fine lines, and wrinkles, via the increased production of collagen and elastin, and by diminishing and improving the appearance of scars. Other benefits: minimal downtime, safe with minimal risk, short recovery time, natural-looking results, no general anesthesia is required.

There are a few do’s and don’ts before and after your Regen® System treatment. Your doctor will provide you with more details based on your specific needs, but here are a few recommendations:

AFTER your Regen® System treatment

After your treatment (for 3 days) you should NOT do any of the following:

  • Apply make-up
  • Touch the injection area or rub the skin where the treatment has been performed
  • Swim or undertake any strenuous exercise
  • Expose yourself to longs periods in the sun
  • Go to a sauna or steam room
  • Expose yourself to extreme hot or cold (ice packs) temperatures or too large swings in temperature

AFTER treatments involving your face or lip area:

  • Do not drink very hot or cold beverages
  • Do not undergo any complementary treatment such as peelings, laser treatments, etc. for at least one
    month

  1. Once skin is completely dry, apply rich moisturizer. Apply religiously for 7 days to avoid excessive peeling.
  2. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible. Wear hats and sunglasses if necessary.
  3. Always apply sunscreen. Even if it is an overcast day, wear sunscreen to protect from UV rays. We recommend SPF 30 and up.
  4. Avoid waxing, threading and laser treatments for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.
  5. Avoid wearing makeup for the first 2 days.
  6. Don’t use harsh chemicals on your face. This includes AHA, BHA, retinol/retinoids, glycolic acid, lactic acid, etc for 1-2 weeks.
  7. Side effects include:
    • Pink/red complexion
    • Tightness
    • Bruised or sensitive sensation
    • Peeling/flaking

Apply ice or cold packs to numb the treated area as needed – laser treatment, you may feel some minor discomfort like a mild sunburn. The area might also be slightly swollen or red. Ice and cold packs are an easy way to ease this pain. You can use ice or cold packs immediately after the laser treatment, so put them in the freezer before your appointment.

  • Wrap the ice or cold pack in a towel before you use it; directly applying the pack to the skin may cause more irritation.
  • Ice the treated area for up to 10 minutes at least 3 times a day until the discomfort is gone. Wait at least an hour before reapplying the ice or cold pack. If you leave the ice pack on for too long, it will restrict the blood flow to that area and slow down your healing time.

Try aloe vera to soothe any redness or swelling. Many people say that aloe vera helps to reduce skin discomfort and ease redness and swelling. It is easy to find in the skincare or sunblock aisle in drug stores; make sure to keep the aloe vera gel refrigerated for the best results. If possible, use fresh aloe vera gel because it is more effective.

  • Apply the aloe vera directly to the areas. Wait several minutes for it to absorb into your skin. After the gel begins to dry, you can remove the excess aloe vera with a soft, damp, washcloth. However, leaving a small amount of aloe vera on your skin is also safe. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day until the pain, redness, and swelling is gone.

Take Tylenol NOT Ibuprofen, Aspirin, or Advil – Medications that thin the blood can increase healing time after laser treatments. Take Tylenol as directed as needed. Protect the treated area from sunlight. The sunlight will irritate the treated area and possibly make the discomfort and redness worse. The easiest way to prevent this is to not expose the treated area to direct sunlight. If you go outside, make sure you cover the area with clothing. If you had your face treated, wear a hat to provide sun protection.

  • Artificial UV sources—such as tanning booths—should also be avoided until the skin has completely healed and all discomfort, swelling, and redness has disappeared.
  • Direct sun exposure should be avoided for a minimum of two weeks after the laser treatment, but some health care providers recommend avoiding the sun for 6 weeks.
  • Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Make sure you reapply the sunblock often, especially if you get the skin wet or sweat profusely. Avoid exposing your skin to heat sources until it has entirely healed. Exposing the treated area to additional heat can increase the skin irritation. Hot water, saunas, and steam rooms should all be skipped for a minimum of 48 hours after the treatment.
  • You can bathe the treated area; however, you should stick to cool or warm water to help the area heal as quickly as possible.

Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours after treatment. Raising the body’s temperature through exercise can also irritate the treated area. Wait at least 48 hours before strenuously exercising.

  • Milder exercise, such as walking, is okay. Just try to avoid becoming overheated. Clean the treated area with a mild cleanser. It is important to keep your skin clean. You should use a mild cleanser, or a cleanser designed for sensitive skin to clean the area. You can shower or bathe as normal, just make sure to keep the water temperature cool.

Pick a moisturizer designed for sensitive skin. After treatment your skin will be more sensitive than normal. It will also probably feel dry, especially as it heals. Applying a moisturizer designed for sensitive skin to the treated area will alleviate the dry feeling without causing further irritation. We recommend Innoaesthetics – Skin Repair Cream available at the clinic for post-laser treatments.

Avoid makeup and harsh skin products. Makeup should not be applied as it may irritate the skin further. It is best to use as little product as possible on your face after treatment.

  • After 24 hours, if the redness is gone, makeup can be applied.
  • You should also avoid topical facial medications such as anti-acne creams. After 24 hours, if the redness has disappeared, you can start using these products again.

  • You will likely see results immediately after treatment and your skin will feel smooth and hydrated for one to four weeks. For improved, longer lasting results, consider take-home products and monthly HydraFacial treatments.
  • The treatment area is more susceptible to sunburn, sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Avoid direct sun exposure and use a minimum of SPF 40 sunscreen.

  • Avoid the use of Retin-A type products pre- and post-treatment for 7 days.

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme which breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers, but it can also break down naturally occurring hyaluronic acid present in the body. The results can be unpredictable and the effect dramatic with possible loss of volume and some skin laxity. Although some of the effects can be immediate, it can take up to 2 weeks for the final results to be seen and the procedure may need to be repeated.

Hyaluronidase administration can result in anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction) which in itself is life threatening and requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction can include shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, difficulty swallowing, swelling of the tongue, eyelids, lips, hoarseness of the voice, stomach pain, nausea or diarrhoea.

If you have any of the above symptoms please report to your nearest Emergency Department or call 911 for an ambulance.

After the procedure some other common injection-related reactions might occur. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising and tenderness at the injection site. They have generally been described as mild to moderate and typically resolve spontaneously after a few days after injection. Bruising may occasionally be more significant.

If you have any concerns following treatment, do not hesitate to contact us at 289-668-4218 or 647-968-4218. If this is outside of normal hours, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided until all redness has subsided. Direct sunlight exposure is to be completely avoided immediately following the treatment (including any strong UV light exposure or tanning beds). Although minimum SPF 30+ should already be a part of your daily skin care, after dermaplaning, SPF 30+ must be applied daily to the treated area for a minimum of two weeks. Twice daily cleanse the treated area with a post- treatment cleanser, followed by a serum or treatment cream and follow with SPF 30+ sunscreen.

If you have additional questions or concerns regarding your treatment or suggested home regimen, you will consult your skin therapist immediately.

  1. Exercise your treated muscles for 1 hour after treatment (for example, practice frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting). This helps to work the Neuromodulators into your muscles.
  2. Do NOT rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours after the treatment and do not have a facial, hot tub, sauna or serious exercise for 24 hours as well.

  6. We would like to see you for a 2-week follow-up assessment, especially if this was your first treatment. This will ensure that we are able to see how YOUR facial muscles reacted to your treatment. If you require more of the product, to fine-tune or adjust your treatment results, it will be applied during this appointment, sometimes at an additional cost. For medical reasons, your results will be photographed and documented in your confidential patient file.
  7. Neuromodulators are a temporary procedure and at first you may find that your treat- ment results will last approximately 3-4 months. If you maintain your treatment appointments with the frequency recommended by your injector, the duration of each treatment may last longer than 4 months.
